American Airlines is set to enhance travel options to Mexico by introducing direct flights from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to Tampico International Airport (TAM) starting March 6, 2025.
This new route, operated by Envoy Air under the American Eagle brand using Embraer E170 jets, aims to streamline travel for passengers heading to this vibrant coastal city. Bookings for this much-anticipated service opened on September 16.
While various airlines currently offer connecting flights between DFW and TAM, American's direct route will be the only point-to-point option available, significantly simplifying travel for those heading to Mexico. With the addition of Tampico, American Airlines now offers a total of 31 destinations in Mexico, making it the leading U.S. carrier in the region.
The demand for travel to Mexico is robust, with American Airlines operating over 63,000 flights to and from the country in 2023, carrying nearly 9.74 million passengers.
The Embraer E170, known for its efficiency and comfort, will facilitate a swift 732-mile journey, promising a pleasant travel experience.
Jim Moses, Senior Vice President of DFW Operations, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, emphasizing American Airlines' commitment to connecting travelers to family, business, and leisure destinations throughout Mexico.
