The Texas Renaissance Festival is held every year in Todd Mission, Texas, nearly 55 miles northwest of Houston.
This annual Renaissance fair was first held in 1974 at an old strip mining site. The festival has now moved to another location, and is being held ever since. It is gained immense popularity and is being dubbed as “America’s largest Renaissance theme park”. The festival is hosted over 55 acres of land with over 200 acres of camping facilities. Over half a million people are attracted to the festival regularly every year.
The 2019 Texas Renaissance Festival will be held from October 5 to December 1 this year on every Saturday and Sunday. The festival will also be open on the Friday after Thanksgiving.
The Texas Renaissance Festival is held on a different theme on each of the nine weekends, influencing contests, shops, art, drink, food, costumes, performances and games. The Themed Weekends include Oktoberfest, 1001 Dreams, All Hallows Eve, Pirate Adventure, Roman Bacchanal, Barbarian Invasion, Heroes and Villains, Highland Flying and Celtic Christmas.
There will be over 500 shops at the Texas Renaissance Festival featuring the works of clothiers, leather smiths, blacksmiths, weavers, potters, jewelers, artisans, artists and master craftspeople. Unique items from across the world are offered by merchants.
