Frontier Airlines Baggage Policy Rules

Frontier Airlines charges baggage fees only for one way trip. You will need to pay just double charges for roundtrip flights. Other rules pertaining baggage policy include the following:

  • One small personal item for free
  • Carry-on bag to be purchased
  • Checked baggage fees and charges applicable as per terms and conditions
  • Overweight baggage fees and charges applicable as per the oversize limit
  • Oversize baggage charges and fees applicable as per the oversize limit
  • A fee or charge for some select sports items

Frontier Airlines Carry-on Allowance

Frontier Airlines allows one personal item to be carried free of cost, which should not be larger than 14” tall, 18” wide and 8” long, and must fit completely within the personal item portion of the bag sizer. The personal item may include kids backpacks, diaper bags, briefcases, computer bags, totes and purses.

The carry-on bags allowed by Frontier Airlines shouldn’t exceed the dimensions of 24” tall, 10” wide and 16” long (including handles, wheels, and straps), and not weigh more than 35 pounds. The carry-on bags must fit in the overhead compartment or under the seat in front of you. Carry-on bag prices are non-refundable and vary based on when it has been purchased. A free carry-on bag in addition to personal items is allowed for FRONTIER Miles Elite members and other passengers who have purchased THE WORKS bundle.

The carry-on free of cost in addition to one personal item also allowed by Frontier Airlines include respiratory devices or any other assistive devices, Portable Oxygen Concentrators, crutches, canes, diaper bags when traveling with an infant, coats, and foot rugs for use during prayer.

Frontier Airlines Checked Baggage Allowance

The checked baggage permitted by Frontier Airlines should not exceed 62 linear inches and maximum weight should be of up to 50 pounds. For baggage exceeding 50 pounds limit will incur an additional charge of $75 for each bag and $75 for each oversized bag. The airline won’t accept bags in excess of 110 linear inches, and also bags weighing 100 pounds or more.

Frontier Airlines Carry-on and Checked Baggage Fees

A $30 fee will be charged for purchasing carry-on bag allowance during online check-in or at the time of ticket booking, while purchasing at the kiosk or airport booking counter will cost $40. However, it increases further when purchased at the gate of the airport costing $60. When purchasing during the holiday season the carry-on baggage charges will be different. The fee changes include $35 at the time of booking, $40 during online check-in, and $45 at the kiosk or airport counter.

The checked baggage fee will vary depending on the number of bags carried by the passenger. For first baggage the fee charged will be $25 at the time of booking or during online check-in, and $30 at the kiosk or airport ticket booking counter. For second baggage the fee charged includes $30 during online check-in or at the time of booking, and $80 at the kiosk or airport ticket booking counter. However, for three or more baggage the passenger will have to pay $75 at the time of booking or during online check-in per bag, and $80 at the kiosk or airport ticket booking counter per bag.
